There are hundreds of dog breeds, and sometimes choosing which breed is best for you can be difficult. If you are an active person and want a dog to join you on some outdoor activities that you love, like hiking, tobogganing, jogging or playing Frisbee, there are some breeds that are perfect for this. On the flip side, if you would prefer a less active dog, than breeds that are known to be active are probably not the best fit for you. Here are some of the most active dog breeds out there.
Siberian Husky Bred as sled dogs, the beautiful, fun-loving Siberian Husky has amazing endurance and loves to be outdoors. They are adventurous, mischievous and independent, as well as being a fantastic companion. No matter what the weather is, they will gladly accompany you on any outdoor adventure. Border Collie The athletic Border Collie is said to be one of the most intelligent of all dog breeds. They are also extremely energetic and love a great challenge, while at the same time will be just as happy playing with the family. These herding dogs are faithful, eager to please and are an overall great companion for anyone looking for an active dog to enjoy time with. Shetland Sheepdog Also extremely intelligent, this playful herding breed loves to chase things and run around in wide-open spaces. Shetland Sheepdogs are also loyal and affectionate, and would love nothing more than to join you on a run or a hike, or just have some play time at a park. Weimaraner Bred for speed, the Weimeraner loves being outdoors, especially when it includes sports. It is a great breed for joggers that want a jogging companion, or families that have lively kids. They are extremely active and do best with people that love the outdoors. Dalmatian The Dalmatian can keep up with race horses, so they are definitely great for runners and happy to go for as long as you can. They are also fiercely protective, making them a great running companion for females. They are playful, enthusiastic and friendly, as well as being enthusiastic friends. Miniature Pinscher These compact dogs are no more than 12 inches high, but their energy level more than makes up for it. The Miniature Pinscher is playful, fast and curious, as well as being extremely proud. They have a giant personality to match their energy level and can play for hours on end. Australian Sheppard Not only are Australian Sheppards beautiful, but they are also extremely active. They are a herding breed that are very protective and a great addition to any active household. They are obedient dogs that are great with children that love to play, especially if it involves a Frisbee. Labrador Retriever This energetic breed is great in all weather conditions, making them the perfect companion for any outdoor lover. The Labrador Retriever is friendly, loving and high-spirited, and seems to do no harm. They love children and want nothing more than to please you, especially when doing things together. |
