This is a great question to ask, as many people are unaware of things that are around their home that can be quite toxic to their dog. Most people are aware of food items that are highly toxic to dogs, like chocolate, macadamia nuts, onions and grapes, to name a few. But there are also other things that could potentially harm your furry family member.
Common cleaners and detergents can be extremely dangerous to your dog, like fabric softener, laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, bleach and drain cleaner. It is essential to clean any spills or even small drips of this stuff, and store them somewhere your dog can’t get to. The same is true for fertilizers and herbicides. Make sure to keep your dog inside while using these in your garden.
There are also other things around the house that are toxic to your dog, some of which many people probably aren’t even aware of. These include tea tree oil, pine oil, liquid potpourri, batteries, super glue and fluoride. Plants like aloe vera, azalea, baby’s breath, chrysanthemum, daffodils, tulips and oleander will also harm your dog. So if you have these in your garden, be sure that your furry loved one does not eat them.
