Like all other animals, cats crave love and affection. But because we don’t speak their language, telling them that we love them is not enough. We need to show them. Here are 6 ways to show your cat that you love them.
Slow blinks in their direction
When a cat blinks its eyes at you, it is their way of saying that they trust you and are comfortable with you. To them, it is like giving you a kiss. Return the gesture by slowly blinking your eyes in their direction. A little nod of the head first will also go a long way.
Yes, cats are excellent at grooming themselves and are often found cleaning their fur with their tongue. But they also love being groomed, especially under their chin and behind their ears. Not only are these areas that they can’t themselves reach, but they are also areas that they love being rubbed and a grooming session will definitely result in a lot of purrs.
Play with them
Cats love to stalk and pounce on things. In fact, they are natural hunters and often crave this natural instinct that is inside of them. Playing with them will help them release the hunter in them. It will also release endorphins in their brain, which will result in much happiness. Find a toy that they love and play with them for as little as just 10 minutes a day and they will know without a doubt that you love them.
Get them a box
This can be something as simple as a cardboard box. Cats love boxes because it makes them feel safe when they are inside it. Having something that they can hide in while sleeping or taking a nap will go a long way. After you buy a new pair of boots or a small kitchen appliance, put the box somewhere for your cat to sleep in. Even better, put a blanket in it and place it in a quiet spot.
Have a nap together
If a cat loves and trusts you it will want to sleep around you. If you let them sleep near you they will see you as their protector and know without a doubt that you love them. This doesn’t mean that you have to let them sleep with you on the bed. Even just some nap time together on the sofa will let your cat know that they can trust you and that you love them.
Your cat will probably rub its body along your leg from the tip of its nose all the way to its tail. They are not only doing this because it feels good, but also as a way of claiming you. Allowing your cat to do this as often as they would like tells them that you are happy to be claimed, which will tell your cat that you love it. This will also strengthen the bond between you.
